Warzone Season 5 is coming over the hill.

Warzone Season 4 Reloaded ushered in the second half of Season 4, meaning Season 5 of Warzone, DMZ and Modern Warfare 2 is the next major update we’re looking forward to. Here’s when it’s expected and the content it could bring.

Warzone Season 5 Expected Release Date

As is standard with Warzone seasons, the dates are not confirmed by the devs until just before it begins. However, we’re able to use Season 4 Battle Pass to work out the dates involved.

Typically, new seasons begin just as the preceding ones end, meaning the expiry date on S4’s Battle Pass is our best way of knowing when Season 5 will begin.

Right now, the Warzone Season 4 Battle Pass expires on 2 August, 2023. We therefore expect Season 5 to begin on that date, or on August 3.

Most seasons are around two months in length but, for as yet unknown reasons, Season 4 is shorter. It began on June 14 and will last around 6 weeks through the start of August. Speculation has been that it will tie into the reveal of Call of Duty 2023 in some way.

Naturally, these dates aren’t final until Activision or Infinity Ward make them official. It’s been a reliable method of working out past seasons’ dates though, so there’s no reason it shouldn’t be accurate again this time.

Content & Leaks

Because we’re still a long way off, there’s no confirmation of content or much in the way of leaks. We don’t expect a new Warzone map with Season 5 because Vondel, the new map based on Amsterdam in the Netherlands, only released with Season 4.

Some new weapons in the vein of the MX Guardian shotgun seem likely, as does another multiplayer map or two for MW2. We also expect the usual pop culture crossovers, bundles and weapon tweaks that new seasons always bring.

For now, that’s everything on when Warzone and MW2 Season 5 will be. We’ll be sure to update this page as it approaches, so check back for more soon. In the meantime, the related content below will have something to tickle your fancy.
